Abandoned

Jordan River Exterior Back.jpg

Abandoned doesn’t always mean forgotten. What has been neglected by one, another may find beauty in and bring it back to life. It may not be the same as it once was, but now it’s different and possibly even better.

Kinsol Trestle and the Quarry

Kinsol Span B&W.jpg

It is crazy to think that you have lived your entire life in one place and never experienced everything it has to offer. Recently I was lucky enough to spend the day with someone that took me to places I had never been, and endured many hours of me wandering around to observe these places and get the shots I wanted.

If you live on Vancouver Island, or are simply visiting, the Kinsol Trestle and Quarry in Cobble Hill are a must. I could have taken may more shots but did not want the ones I truly loved to get lost in a mass of images. These places have many trails, beautiful scenery and wildlife. If you have never been I highly recommend checking them out, you will not be disappointed.

Happy Earth Day 2020!!

Knight Inlet and the Bear Conservation

In June of 2019 I went on the Tide Rip Grizzly Tour. This is a full day, early morning trek on multiple boats, starting at Telegraph Cove, BC and straight through to the Knight Inlet. On our way back we stopped at the beautiful Lagoon Cove. The entire day was unforgettable. Started with a foggy morning boat ride, reminiscent of a thriller novel. Then it let up to reveal Transient Orcas, many different birds, and a lone black bear off of the shoreline. We then travelled into the Bear Conservation and the scenery did not disappoint.

The main attraction of this tour is focused on the Bear Conservation in Knight Inlet. You get to observe the Grizzly Bears in their natural habitat, safely and without disturbing them. Each year my best friend and I plan an exciting photography trip to experience the beauty of the province we live in. This trip is a definite must for anyone who enjoys photography, or observing wildlife in their natural habitat.

We chose to stay in the quiet town of Port McNeill and were welcomed by all the locals. The accommodations and restaurants were amazing! This was a beautiful town that you might not normally visit, but you definitely should.

Second Chances

Max

In May of 2018 I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Dave and his staff at Predators of the Heart, an exotic animal refuge, located in Washington state. This 10 acre refuge is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe home for various types of exotic animals.

Booking this Wolf Encounter was one of the best and most educational days of my life. We got to spend a lot of time with Max prior to taking a hike with him and Kakoa. Kakoa had us all howling with her in the forest and then we stopped so Max could take a break and sit on our laps.

At the conclusion of our hike we went back to the refuge and got to see a cougar, foxes, and many other rescued exotic pets. We were fortunate enough to get to observe and spend time with seven 11 month old wolf cubs. They were shy, curious and highly entertaining, just like if you had an 11 month old puppy at home.

My brief story and photos will never do this experience justice. Just trust me and go experience it for yourself!
